I was alerted to HaTS (formerly ALUPAL) as being a great in-house charity to be able to offer some support to people encountering our unit, for several reasons.

I joined as a trustee many years ago, yet despite now moving to a new trust and role, still feel passionate about supporting the patients undergoing financial pressure due to diagnosis and treatment.

It is an honour to be a Trustee for a charity that is able to provide financial assistance at a time of great need when patients are going through exceptionally physically and psychologically challenging periods. Assistance is possible within the day which relieves some of the pressure and allows patients to concentrate on their health.

It was a challenging time but during my time recovering I was introduced to a charity called ALUPAL. I was offered financial support to help with travel costs as living in North Wales, it was quite a trek for me and my family.  I was struck by the kindness and support I was offered and needed little encouragement in joining the charity as their Treasurer. ALUPAL became HaTS and I’m still offering my help for what I believe is a fantastic support for patients.
